This past week was a blessing for us in several ways. first of all, my parents made their first trip to Honduras to visit us. They spent the week touring Colonial Comyagua, meeting Etel`s family and visiting the school where we teach.
We also received another blessing last week. On Saturday, December 5th Fr. Gregorio CFR blessed our engagemnet. The ceremony was attended by my parents, Etel`s family and of course, Etel and I. The Poor Clares offered their chapel to us for the blessing and promised to continue to pray for us.
A blessing of engagement ceremony is not to be confused with a wedding. We are not married yet, however, the Church offers a special blessing to those who are preparing for the sacrament of marriage. Fr. Gregorio was very generous in giving us the blessing and he mentioned in his homily that not many couples ask for the blessing. During the ceremony we exchanged gifts, rosaries from Assisi. Afterwards, we celebrated by going out to dinner with our families.
